As a senior in college, I looked forward to many events in the spring semester. There was Black History Month events, KSU Day, birthdays, graduation, and so much more. I never imagined that my senior year would be quicker than expected. I never thought going to Sweet Hut would be the last time I hung out with a group of friends. The pandemic was here, and quarantine began. Everything became virtual: classes, birthdays, and celebrations. It was different and strange. Although three of my classes were already online, it became a lot different when all five of them were. My eyes began to strain because of constant computer use, so I ended up ordering blue light glasses from this.
Work became harder too. My job is somewhat remote, and finding a full-time job is challenging. I was interviewing with different companies, and all of a sudden, it stopped because those companies had to freeze their hiring process. Being a senior became frustrating because nothing was working out how I planned. As the future of graduation is still unknown, I am still hopeful for many opportunities for my future. If I do not get to walk across a stage, I will have to adapt just like everyone else.
This pandemic has taught me that life is truly unfair and it won't go as planned. Likewise, I learned that change is hard. However, sometimes we have to experience hardships to face better outcomes later down the road. I have changed throughout the course at KSU. As professionals, sometimes we have to change how things work, how our employees are being treated or how we treat others. How have you changed during this pandemic?
